How do I create a league? |
Log In at the Customized Football homepage, then you'll be presented with a link to Create a New League. Then enter a league name (this can be edited at any time) and league password (only used during the league setup, by the other people that will join your league). Select the number of teams, and finally your own team's name and hometown (if you use a hometown). You'll be able to edit your team hometown and name at any time, so no pressure to come up with the perfect name.
Next, you'll be presented with the league invitation manager.
How do I use the League Invitation Manger? |
The invitation list is simply a list of emails, one slot for every team in the league. Enter the emails in any fashion you wish (all or some), as you can always come back to this page and change it. When you would like to send any invitation(s), just click the checkbox next to the name(s) to send to, write a message if you'd like, and send the emails.
Each email invitation contains the password and a link back to Customized Football. As team owners accept their invitations and join your league, they are automatically removed from the invitation list.

How are drafts or auctions handled? |
Leagues can enter their draft or auction after it is finished offline, or they can perform a live one online. These drafts/auctions are kept and are available for historical review by any registered user of Customized Football.
Online drafts/auctions can be performed with some or all of the teams participating in realtime. Any team can create a worksheet ahead of time, and turn the worksheet on or off at any time (allowing for partial live participation, if needed). The draft/auction is handled via a web page that has a draft board and chat room, and a league administrator triggers the "going once, going twice, going three times, sold" stages.
Teams can make trades of players, picks, and/or funds in the middle of the draft/auction.

What scoring systems are supported by Customized Football? |
This is an area where Customized Football shines. Each league can define the yardage and scoring definitions for each position. All of the usual statistics can be scored, and be handled in a simple x=y points format, or via a curve (0-4 tackles = 0 points, 5-9 tackles = 2 points, etc.). TD distance bonuses are also supported.
Not only are the scoring capabilities extremely robust, Customized Football will build any new systems into the website upon request. Have a scoring system that you don't see on the Customized Football site? Ask, and it will be built! (contact Customized Football)
You can also browse existing and past scoring systems used in Customized Football, and select any of those.

How do I customize my team appearance? |
When you are logged in, you can go to your team's homepage and click the Team Appearance link. The options within that area will let you customize your team colors, as well as an owner picture and team logo.
Each team has a 2 colors (usually a light and a dark) that can be selected from a color picker or entered as RGB values; each team color also has a corresponding text color that will be used for displays of your team information.
There is also an image gallery in this area, with many images to choose from for your owner picture and team logo. Owner pictures are also displayed on the message board. If you would like to submit a picture to be used for either purpose, just email them to gallery@customizedfootball.com and they will be sized, categorized, and assigned to your team. Please specify if you'd like the submitted image to be available to the public, or only used by yourself.

What's the deal on schedules? |
Schedule templates can be generated for leagues with 8, 10, or 12 teams. Each league can also manually enter/edit their own schedule, so seasons can be as long or as short as each league desires.
Schedules can have a home-and-away format, and scoring systems can include a bonus for hometown teams.

Are leagues required to use an economic system? |
Nope.
What role do economics play in Customized Football? |
Leagues can define a wide variety of economic rules, and league economic systems offer a lot of fun in addition to providing another layer of strategy and simulation.
The name of the currency is up to each league, and the funds are used for free agency systems and trading. Funds can be deposited in various times during the year (including preseason, and for dynasty leagues offseason as well), and/or upon various criteria being met throughout the season (after a victory or loss, etc.).

How does Blind Simultaneous Free Agency work? |
This is another area of Customized Football that really stands out. If a league opts for this method, free agency is handled once each week during the regular season (and dynasty leagues can do it in the offseason, too).
Each team fills out a free agent bid sheet each week, and then at a designated time the website processes all of the bids. Teams bid league currency for players, without knowing what other teams are bidding, or even who they may be bidding on. Highest bids result in that team signing that player, and ties go to the team with the worst record. If a team bids 10 dollars on a player and the next highest bid was 7 dollars, then that player gets signed for the 10 dollars and that is deducted from the winning team's bank balance.
This is the fairest system to use, in that it allows every team a fair chance at the entire pool of free agents. It doesn't penalize team owners for not being near a phone or computer, realtime free agency signing does. Even so, Customized Football also supports realtime free agency.

How does Realtime Free Agency work? |
Teams are allowed to sign free agents and waive players at anytime during the week. Oftentimes, leagues impose a fee for each signing, and that is collected by the league commissioner and put into the prize fund.
